"How to…BABY BAKASANA“
🙈ok, admittedly this is not necessarily a beginner’s pose but … #BabyBak
is normally THE pose to begin with when you start doing fun things on your forearms like funky pincha, funky 8-angle-pose, funky firefly and such 😊. So, in a sense it IS a beginner pose 😂. Like CrowPose is the first #armbalance
for most of us.
I’d say if you have a nice and proper forward fold you will be able to get your knees really high up to your armpits. If so you’ve already walked half of the way to baby bak. If this is far out your reach please check 👉🏼 #DreaIsTeaching
for a mini tutorial on this one. For more prep I suggest long hold dolphin pose and forearm plank to gain strength in your upper body. Maybe Crow Pose is already in your repertoire so you know for sure you can carry your own body weight. One problem less 😉
1️⃣ Sit in a #squat
position for 100 breaths. Use blocks under your heels when you can’t get them down yet. Your feet are rather parallel than heels turned it. Sit as upright as possible.
2️⃣ Round your back and bring your forearms to the mat. Don’t worry if your heels get up a bit. Stay here for another 100 breaths. Your knees stay outside your armpits/shoulders. SNUGGLE into yourself.
3️⃣ LIFT your bum. Keep your knees at your shoulders, press the knee caps from the outside to the inside of your arm pits. Your thighs stay glued to your side body❗️
4️⃣ LOOK forward, LEAN forward, SHIFT your weight into your WRISTS, fingertips activated. Protract your shoulders. Rib Cage IN. Bum STAYS UP. Keep the knees as high as you can to your arm pits ALL THE TIME and PUSH AWAY the mat❗️
5️⃣ Lift one foot only, bring your heel to your bum, put it back. Lift the other foot, bring that heel to your bum. Put it back! Take a break if necessary and REPEAT.
📍When you are ready, lift BOTH FEET📍
Hope this helps. If you have any questions, please ask 😍
