The Luna Moth, often mistakenly called the Lunar Moth, has no mouth and does not eat or drink. Only living one week as an adult, their only purpose is to mate and produce the next generation. There has been concern that light pollution from man-made sources, like street lights, may deter silk moths from mating. Luna moths, once very common, are now being threatened in some areas due to habitat loss.
A week might seem like a very short time for us. But, it is a lifetime for these moths. They put all of their energy into flying, finding a mate and producing the next generation. They live a very productive and prosperous adult life.
